The Customer

Ascot Racecourse is world-renowned for providing breathtaking horse racing events and delivering unforgettable experiences for fans, families, and everyone who attends. Additionally, Ascot hosts a year-round calendar of non-racing events across the estate, ranging from popular art fairs to jubilant parties, weddings, and more. This makes the venue one of the busiest in the UK, with tens of thousands of visitors using various facilities. Year-round maintenance is essential during downtime to keep Ascot an eye-catching attraction. CT Flooring were tasked with managing this year’s demanding maintenance schedule. Degafloor recommended them as an Approved Installer due to their excellent track record with previous high-profile projects, such as the south concourse flooring installed at Liverpool Lime Street Station, which was delivered superbly despite the challenges posed by COVID-19.

The Challenge

The executive kitchen at Ascot required a refurbishment, with a vinyl top layer followed by a latex screed, with a polyurethane screed underneath.  With the busy kitchen aiming to serve thousands of visitors every month, only a durable, long-lasting, and extremely hygienic floor would suffice. Project manager Lee Chalk chose Degafloor’s QT and QTA system to complete the 579m² job. Both these systems have received HACCP International Certification in food safety, making it the perfect choice for the fast-paced kitchen. CT flooring began the works in January, preparing the floor by removing all the existing floor down to the polyurethane screed, and preparing it for the Degafloor systems to go on top. The QT system was installed throughout all the kitchen corridors, with kitchen areas having the QTA system installed to give them extra slip resistance. Both systems were praised for their ultra-fast curing times and upmost hygiene standards.

The Results

The installation was a success from start to finish. Thanks to Degafloor’s fast-curing QT and QTA systems, CT flooring were able to complete the work within the timeframe given, minimizing the kitchen’s downtime.
